In January 2026, students and faculty from NYU History participated in a week-long study tour in Bridgetown, Barbados hosted by the University of the West Indies at Cave Hill, in conjunction with the Sylvester Manor historic site. Students were given a tour of various historical sites, gaining insight into transatlantic slavery and the island’s cultural heritage. The department’s PhD students had the opportunity to present their research at a two-day academic conference, engaging and connecting with scholars from the University of the West Indies, The University of Massachusetts Boston, Sylvester Manor, and many others.
