NYU is home to one of the country’s leading history departments. We offer a pair of MA programs.

Welcome!
The MA in History (MAH) develops out of the department’s longstanding commitment to imperial, transnational, oceanic, and diasporic histories. The MA in Archives and Public History (APH) emphasizes a grounding in historical scholarship, engagement with digital technologies, and project-based learning. We invite you to learn about our programs by watching the video below and spending some time on our website. If you have further questions, please reach out to us. And if you are in New York City, we invite you to visit the department in person!
