‘Private/Public’ is an artistic intervention on reproductive justice in New York City. It is intended to open a dialogue about the range of issues related to reproductive justice: health care systems, sex education, privacy, safe and affordable contraception, sexuality, gender politics, legal issues, health, and national policies regarding sustainable environments. This intervention was created as part of a workshop facilitated by Avram Finkelstein with NYU students from the Art Education and Community Practice Masters Program, as part of his “Flash Collective”. “Flash Collective’ is a strategy developed by Avram, where he assembles one day collectives, to produce a single intervention in a public space.
