After reading A Network of Fragments

The author points out the interesting fact of what internet is in the physical sense: fragments and poles on the sides of highways. I see them all the time on road trips across China, putting my elbows by the window and staring outside at the passing wire poles. Those were the good times. And I learned by then how the magical instant network is dependent on these innocuous poles standing silently on the sides of the roads, watching over the passing cars. They are a scene of content solitude, a mark that is more of an aesthetic symbol to me than a technological one.
