Research assistant, AD

I graduated from the American University of Beirut with a BA in Psychology in 2018, where psycholinguistics and developmental psychology were of particular interest to me. In my psycholinguistics course, I worked on a research paper exploring the relationship between synesthesia & language. As a synesthete myself, I grew fascinated with my ability to see letters and numbers in colour. I explored its prominence in languages other than English, looked at its neurological basis in the brain, and its underlying theories.

Prior to joining the NeLLab in NYUAD, I was a nursery teacher, and a brain trainer for children and adolescents with cognitive difficulties. Having had the opportunity to watch little minds grasp multiple languages at such a young age, and then training the brain to rewire itself were eye-opening experiences that fueled my desire to further study the brain’s complexity.
