Graduate Student, Psychology
I’m a first-year PhD student in the Psychology department. My research interest is language processing, especially semantic processing. Recently, I’ve been working on a project focusing on adjective ordering, in other words, why humans express phrases like “big red boat” instead of “red big boat.” Eventually, I plan to compare English and Mandarin Chinese to explore the cross-linguistic regularities of adjective ordering. To investigate this, I will apply the Rapid Parallel Visual Presentation (RPVP) paradigm and record the brain activities using MEG.
Before joining NYU, I completed my BS at NYU Shanghai, majoring in neuroscience with a minor in psychology. My undergraduate thesis focused on quantifying conceptual specificity (how specific a word is) using human ratings and computational models.
