Enid Mollel
Enid Mollel is a recent graduate with a BA in Music, currently working with the Music and Sound Cultures Research Group at NYUAD as a research assistant. Her capstone research project comparatively studies the nuances of producing music remotely “in the box” and in the recording studio. She explores whether there exists a relationship between music-making and in-person interaction and investigates whether working in a strictly remote format influences the music-making process, with attention to issues of emotional labor and the transmission of affect. Enid’s research specifically attempts to create a framework for understanding how emotional labor manifests itself in solo music-making practices with non-sentient entities.
Her passions include songwriting, music performance, and audio engineering and she describes her work as a fusion of pop and contemporary R&B. Throughout her undergraduate career, Enid has performed at Staff Appreciation celebrations, monthly Rooftop Rhythms open mic events, Hekayah | The Story (2021), and the annual NYUAD Reality Show to name a few. In addition to performance, Enid has played the role of an assistant audio engineer for various projects, earned an Avid Pro Tools user certification, and was selected amongst a pool of more than 1000 applicants to take part in the Johnny Mercer Foundation’s Songwriters Program (2021).
