Xiner Chen

Xiner (Rose) Chen graduated from NYU Abu Dhabi in 2024 with a double major in Social Research and Public Policy and Music Study, along with a minor in Heritage Study. With a deep passion for musical genres across cultural and stylistic spectrums, her work bridges sociology and musicology, emphasizing gender dynamics in music. Her undergraduate research, “K-pop Music and the Women’s Movements in South Korea (2000-2023): A Case Study of The Song ‘Into the New World’ by Girls’ Generation (SNSD),” explores music’s role in social movements.
 

Rose worked as an NYUAD music program assistant for several years and has extensive experience in museum and curatorial practices. Currently, Rose is a Research Assistant with the Music and Sound Cultures Research Group at NYUAD.
