Rebecca PittamRebecca Pittam

With 11 years at NYU Abu Dhabi Library and over 25 years in digital media, I bring extensive expertise to my role in Digitisation and Digital Preservation. I manage the Library’s digitisation programme, transforming physical collections into digital surrogates, and I develop sustainable strategies, workflows, and best practices essential for digital preservation at both the bitstream and logical levels, ensuring the integrity and accessibility of our digital collections.

I utilise advanced digital preservation systems, such as Preservica, and other tools to safeguard content against technological obsolescence and data loss. This creates a resilient framework for the Library’s digital collections, encompassing both born-digital and digitised materials. Collaborating with the Archives & Special Collections team, my key responsibilities include identifying at-risk formats and planning for their migration to mitigate data loss. I also establish scalable processes that support long-term preservation, ensuring the authenticity, accessibility, and usability of digital assets, in line with the Library’s mission to sustain its invaluable collections for future access and research.
