During the Fall semester of 2018, Math for Econ III will be coordinated by Prof. Hesam Oveys, ho15@nyu.edu.
This class is designed for students who have already taken Math for Economics I and II and decide to pursue a math major, an econ major with theory concentration, a joint or double math/econ major. All these majors require the credits/completion of Calculus I-II and III, hence Math For Econ III is designed in a way so that the Math for Econ I-II-III route keeps a student’s option of planning to pursue any of these majors.
In Math for Economics III, we aim to:
- Cover the concepts from Calculus II, and III which are missing from Math for Economics I and II, in a way which strengthens the students’ formal reasoning and prepares them for advanced math courses such as Analysis.
- Deepen the students’ understanding of the subjects introduced in Math for Economics I and II, and expose them to numerous new applications to economics.
