WebAssign

WebAssign is an online, machine-graded homework system that also includes a digital copy of the textbook. You are required to purchase a WebAssign license. 

WebAssign License

You will have a two-week grace period from the beginning of the term to purchase and activate a WebAssign license.  Licenses can be purchased in one of the following ways:

Follett Access Details

This course is participating in the Follet Access program. This is an NYU Bookstore initiative that delivers required course materials at the lowest possible price. 

The book, Calculus by Stewart will be delivered to you digitally through the WebAssign platform. The cost of the book is $109.50, which will be added as a “book charge” to your bursar bill, this is a savings of $87.50 over the publisher’s list price. 

All students are automatically enrolled in the Follett Access program, If you decide not to use this digital edition you can opt-out of the program. The deadline for opting out is February 8th. You must login here to the student portal.

Information you should know:
    • Your username is your school email address.
    • The deadline to opt out is February 8th.
    • If you have opted out of a course, you can opt back in.

Accessing WebAssign

You can access WebAssign by clicking on the “WebAssign” link in the Content tool on the course Brightspace site. Clicking on this link and logging in to WebAssign automatically adds you to the roster you to the WebAssign roster; no class key is required. WebAssign Terms of Service

During this class, students will be required to use Cengage WebAssign as a part of course studies, and thus, will be required to agree to the Terms of Use (TOU) associated with Cengage WebAssign. Cengage WebAssign requires users to be over the age of 18, to purchase a license for the service and to create an account. Personally identifiable information is required to create a profile, this includes name, email address and IP address. Other information may be required in order to complete a license purchase through Cengage WebAssign. This includes address, phone number, and payment information. This information will identify users to Cengage WebAssign and companies with whom it shares data. Computer metadata will be collected in order to provide the service. This data may be used by third-party advertisers. You can configure your web browser to disable these features, though this may impact certain features of the service. As an alternative, the following websites will allow you to opt out of the multi-site cookies http://www.aboutads.info/choices or http://youronlinechoices.eu/. Cengage WebAssign is not an NYU service. Therefore, the user should not use their NYU login and password to login to Cengage WebAssign directly. Login and password information should be unique.

You should read carefully the Cengage WebAssign Terms of Use (https://www.cengage.com/legal/), Supplemental Terms (https://www.cengage.com/legal/#supplemental), and Privacy Policy (https://www.cengage.com/privacy/) regarding the impact on your privacy rights and intellectual property rights.  If you have any questions or objections regarding those Terms of Use or the impact on the class, you are encouraged to speak to the instructor prior to enrollment.

WebAssign includes access to a digital copy of our textbook. You are not required to purchase a physical copy of the textbook, but you are welcome to do so. 

Graphing calculator

A graphing calculator is encouraged for class discussion and on homework, but not allowed for exams or quizzes. No specific calculator is endorsed, so do not buy a new one. If you have one already, continue to use that one; if you do not, try free alternatives such as Desmos or Wolfram Alpha.
