An important feature of MagicGeo is the ability to perform particle scale analysis, which can be used to explore phenomena like shear localization at scales not discernable using DIC analysis. MagicGeo currently allows for automatic detection of circular and spherical particles. Multiple images of displaced particles can be used to construct particle trajectories. This allows for direct visualization of the movement of particles, and provides a fascinating look into granular interactions.
Particle analysis can be used to perform kinematic analysis at the micro scale. This is implemented in MagicGeo by decomposition of particle movement into affine and non-affine motion.
Soon codes to calculate 2D particle rotation will be included in the MagicGeo that allows users to conduct a full 2D particle kinematic analysis.
