MagicGeo features a user friendly graphic user interface to perform standard and advanced digital image correlation (DIC), meso scale kinematic analysis and 2D particle kinematics analysis.
DIC Analysis
Features include image texture evaluation, non-uniform lighting detection and correction, a multitude of optimization functions including standard spatial and frequency domain correlation methods, zero mean normalized cross correlation and square of differences. A hybrid spatial -frequency domain algorithm is also implemented to increase computation efficiency. Other features include advanced window deformation methods for large deformation.
Meso scale kinematic analysis
Standard DIC results can be used to perform meso scale kinematic analysis in MagicGeo. First, sequence of incremental DIC results can be used to construct both Eulerian and Lagrangian trajectories of an element. Second, a finite strain implementation is also used to calculate shear strain, volumetric strain and element rotation.
2D particle kinematics analysis
The software allows for particle identification in circular/spherical granular arrangements. It can also be used to perform particle tracking, which allows for the visualization of individual particle trajectories. The particle trajectories can be used to perform micro-scale kinematic analysis, by means of quantifying affine and non-affine components of particle motion.
