El Estragón Vegetariano serves up vegetarian renditions of traditional foods. The cozy environment adds to the charm that makes this restaurant a popular choice among vegetarians and omnivores alike.

Dish to try: Meatballs (albóndigas).

El Vergel offers not only a vegetarian but an ecological menu. In addition to the restaurant, El Vergel has an ecological store and cooking courses.

Dish to try: Ravioli.

Paseo de la Florida, 53; Metro Argüelles.

 

Different from a typical vegetarian restaurant, La Oveja Negra is great for grabbing quick, inexpensive, 100% vegetarian food before heading out for the evening.

Dish to try: Hamburgers.

Calle Buenavista, 42; Metro Lavapiés.

 

El Restaurante Vegetariano offers a homemade style vegetarian menu served in a cozy setting, located in Malasaña. Their cooking ingredients include eggs and dairy products as well as vegan dishes. Daily menu price is 10€.

Dish to try: rice with sautéed vegetables, coconut, and sesame sauce: Whole grain rice with red pepper, carrots, green beans, mushrooms and coconut sautéed and enriched with sesame and soy sauces.

Calle Marques Santa Ana, 34; Metro: Tribunal or Noviciado.

 

Crucina promotes raw food (with no heat). They say this cooking style better preserves most of the nutrients of the vegetables, fruit, seeds and other green ingredients. The average price for its main dishes is 13€. They offer a wide variety of fruit juices and smoothies.

Dish to try: Pizza, prepared with dough made from sunflower seeds, flax, “chia” and vegetables.

Calle Divino Pastor, 30; Metro: San Bernardo or Tribunal.

 

Shi-Shang is the only Asian buffet and restaurant that only uses vegetarian ingredients. Their cooking is low in salt, sugars and oils. Their weekday menu is just 5,95€.

Dish to try: Beef steak (vegetarian ingredients) with bamboo and Chinese mushrooms.

Calle Concepcion Arenal, 3; Metro: Gran Vía or Callao.

 

Loving Hut´s menu is specialized in vegetarian dishes and international recipes. They are a chain restaurant with branches in many countries (including the USA). They also have a large section of vegan dishes.

Dish to try: Delicias de los siete mares and tofu salad.

Vegetarian Stores

A Salto de Mata offers organic products supplied directly by producers. It brings information and accessibility to products, crops processes and vegetarian diets.

Calle Doctor Fourquet, 17; Metro: Lavapiés.

 

La Magdalena de Proust specializes in preparing organic bread and many kinds of pastries. They are promoters of local production and thus have a vegetable garden in Madrid where they harvest the vegetables that are sold in store. The store also functions as a cooking school.
