III. Concept | Storyline:
1). Who are you going to interview? Or What is the piece (article, poem, story) for the narrative voiceover?
The narrative voice we are going to utilize is for presenting the player in the story (which also stands for the viewer of the video), to better express the emotions and explain the plot.
2). What’s the story about?
Keywords: role-play game, women’s social restrictions, making choices in life, the virtual and the real, feminist.
The story is about a female character living in a virtual game without noticing she is a created character. She may make choices in her daily life but the choices she makes are manipulated by the game designers, so the path she is going to go through is limited intangibly. In the end of the video she may find out her situation and position in the virtual world or not.
3). Which part of the story are you going to focus on?
The story will focus mainly on the scenes when the female character is making choices, the process of making them, and the feeling occurs to her.
4). What kind of style/aesthetics are you going to pursue?
To convey the feeling of being virtual yet not too far from reality, we will adopt the style which contains instructions, conversation bars, multiple choices, and property panels that can be seen easily in video games. Besides, the aesthetics will be linked to either cyberpunk, Y2K, or something else.
- Execution Plan:
1). What equipment are you going to use when shooting the movie? (cell phone, DSLR camera, sound recorder, stabilizer..)
Mobile phone, camera, sound recorder
2). Which locations will it be shot at? When is it? Day time/night/unknown? Why?
Classroom
3). What are some challenges you might encounter and how will you prepare?
It is hard to get into some locations to shoot, so finding proper places can be a challenge. We will contact/search for the places in advance to avoid any rejections from the owners.
Editing will be a large part of our work since we will add post-stage special effects on the screen.
4). How will you collaborate? How will you divide work? (Gantt Chart)
We will divide the work based on each other’s time differences, location limitations, and different strengths.
