Project Title: Your City
Project Description: At first, I kind of had too many ideas to convey. I want to explore the relationship between light and shadow , bright and dark, and two-dimensional plane and three-dimensional space. When visiting the Women in Abstraction exhibition, I find myself interested in how to arrange the position of lights to better show the objects, and how does the shadow look like when having so many sources of light. Of course, one important feature that everyone could find is that the overlapping place of shadows becomes darker. This brings me to think about how can I emphasize the overlapping part, to let others realize the beauty of different shapes of shadow. As I going through the art exhibition photos in Pinterest, I found that color might be a good way, especially with the three primary colors that finally create all kinds of colors. So in my project, players can see some large circles representing different sources of light. Those circles also limit the place players can create their cities, to avoid the canvas being too full. The rules are quite simple. Different shapes have different colors with 40% of transparency. They can be moved following some specific tracks. When they overlap, the color of the overlapping part changes to the mixture of the two colors. By doing so, players can create city themselves.
Purpose/goals:
- To explore the mixture of different colors.
- To create a special three-dimensional feel.
- To give players the freedom to build the city they want.
