I am a postdoctoral research fellow at Teachers College, Columbia University, working in the Developing Language and Literacy Lab (DLL-Lab) under the supervision of Prof. Carol Scheffner Hammer.
I received my Ph.D. from the Department of Communicative Sciences and Disorders at New York University, under the advisement of Prof. Christina Reuterskiöld. As a research rotation, I have also worked with Prof. Maria Grigos in the Motor Speech Lab.
My research interests are bilingual language and literacy development. I have investigated these topics in both monolingual children with and without hearing impairments, as well as in monolingual and bilingual adults.
My teaching experience ranged from undergraduate to graduate courses at a public four-year university, a private liberal arts college and a private four-year university. I have taught on-campus and online courses. I have also co-founded a Chinese language school and taught first graders in my leisure time.
Through community services I strive to connect research with real-life practices. I have a strong bond with the bilingual community. I have been actively involved in outreach activities to disseminate scientific knowledge about bilingualism and advocate for bilinguals’ rights to communicate without interference.
