Coming Soon: A New Avery Fisher Center for Music and Media

Why is the 7th floor in Bobst Library closed? Because it is being transformed as the latest addition to the Research Commons (currently encompassing floors 4, 5 and 6), and featuring a beautiful new Avery Fisher Center (AFC). While the existing, 2nd-floor AFC supports the full spectrum of analog and digital formats, the new one will be even more versatile, with a range of user-centric facilities including media-ready carrels, collaborative rooms, and a seminar room for group screenings. With a design based on up-to-the-minute advances in audio and video playback, the AFC will even have an “immersion room” to experience multi-screen video work and contemporary music composed for multi-channel, surround-sound systems.
