Archives for February 2017
Last semester, we introduced Project Shhh!, a Dibner Library design competition open to all NYU students. Students were asked to propose innovative solutions to reduce noise and delineate study spaces in Dibner Library. Project Shhh! teams have been researching and collecting data to support their design concepts since October 2016.
Three finalists will be presenting their results on Wednesday, March 1st from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Tandon MakerSpace. Please join us for these presentations.
Please RSVP to Mikolaj Wilk if you plan to attend.
Light refreshments will be served.
The annual Violet Ball will take place in Bobst Library on Saturday, February 25th. The Violet Ball is sponsored by the NYU Student Senators Council.
Or perhaps you’d have preferred the 1968 Student Dance, held that year at the University Heights campus!
Please note, in observance of President’s Day on Monday, February 20th, hours at Bobst Library will be adjusted as follows:
- Stacks and Lower Level study areas will be operating under regular hours.
- Ask a Librarian services will be operating from 6 p.m. to midnight.
- Library Privileges will be operating from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Circulation & Reserves, AFC, the Computer Center, and Microforms will be operating from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- All other services will be closed.
After a power outage yesterday (2/14/17), our online resources are now fully functional again. We apologize for the unexpected service interruptions.
If you continue to encounter problems, please contact Ask a Librarian.
On Tuesday, February 14th, a power outage at Bobst Library disrupted many Libraries online services and caused the temporary closure of the library. Services affected include BobCat, Course Reserves, EZborrow, interlibrary loan, room reservation, and other online systems.
Bobst Library will reopen for regular hours at 7am on Wednesday, February 15th.
Library online systems will be gradually restored on Wednesday, February 15th. As systems come online, we will update this blog.
For the Spring 2017 semester, the Libraries has placed hundreds of titles on sale at the Bookstore on Course Reserve. So make sure to check BobCat’s Course Reserve tab before you buy, as we have hundreds of print and e-book titles readily available. It’s not hard to find materials on Course Reserve.
If you don’t see the material you need in Course Reserves, we might still have what you need. Simply search in the Books & More tab to see if the material is in our collection. And if you still can’t find what you need, search E-ZBorrow for books. You can request books from 50 nearby libraries for delivery within 4-6 days. All E-ZBorrow books have a 12 week loan period.
