It was also recorded by the Julius Hemphill Sextet on the posthumous album At Dr. King’s Table (1997).

From Marty Ehrlich: This work is intricate and multi sectional, set within a rich, free floating harmonic world. Hemphill writes “A la Grotesque” for a section in which a vamp for soprano saxophone and bass clarinet gradually accelerates over an independent, two-flute part.
