Julius Hemphill : Composer

Composition for soprano and alto saxophones, recorded via overdubbing by Hemphill for the album Blue Boyé (1977). The score appears in Music Manuscript Notebook 1 (MMN1), where it has the title “Second,” corresponding to the sequence on the album.

From Marty Ehrlich: In Hemphill’s interview for the Smithsonian Museum Oral History project, he describes the “Hot End” as the neighborhood where he grew up in Ft. Worth, Texas.
