The Visualization of Data in Education

The visualization of data in education spans across a wide landscape of teaching, learning, and assessment, as well as the challenge of making sense out of big sets of educational data. Not only is the visualization of data becoming a necessary skill for students to become successfully employed but also for faculty teaching with technology to better understand the digital footprint of their students. And as the scale of data in education expands, the challenges of making meaning of it also increases. Data visualization is an essential tool for solving this problem through generating insight and communicating ideas effectively.

NYUIT and Steinhardt School of Culture, Education & Human Development are proud to sponsor the Learning Analytics Summer Institute – NYC. This will be one of several  sister events occurring in concert with the Society for Learning Analytics, Learning Analytics Summer Institute. Through a range of workshops and panel discussions participants will explore how to descriptively visualize data through various methods and tools. The event is free and open to all members of the New York City learning analytics community – though registration spaces are limited.
