Lapis: The Journal of the Institute of Fine Arts is a peer-reviewed, open-access journal on art history, architecture, and art conservation published by the Institute of Fine Arts at New York University.
Lapis is a biannual online publication edited by graduate students at the Institute. Lapis is dedicated to scholarly articles on art history from all fields and is open to submissions from graduate students and scholars internationally. In considering art history as a trans-temporal and interdisciplinary practice tightly linked to material culture, Lapis strives to present studies that are broad in chronological, geographic, and methodological scope. Lapis is committed to share innovative perspectives on the way art history can be written, taught, exhibited, and conceptualized. Gathering the insights of the discipline’s future leaders, the journal provides a space for early-career scholars to rework and expand the notion of art history.
