Week2 – Reflection on Audio Editing

The functions of Au are not very difficult to learn, however, I have challenges when attempting to utilize it to synthesize sounds. Spencer, one of our team members, has considerably more experience than I have, and he is good at using repetition and effects to make sounds more expansive and songlike. I believe that the recording and editing have really provided me with two distinct fresh experiences related to the word.

Following the recording task, I pay close attention to the sounds occurring all around me. And most of these sounds slipped my ears’ awareness, allowing me to consider whether I may have missed something in my acoustic word.

When it comes to editing, it makes me go back to when I first learned how to use Pr to edit videos, but the appeal of video and audio are indeed very different. There must be a story outline when I edit a video so that the plot follows my earlier concept. However, since I can only hear it, there is more room for inspiration regarding audio editing. Lily, Spencer, and I are just recording independently without deciding on a specific theme, so there is still plenty of room for editing to build a story. All the demos we gather are snapshots of daily life, and after editing, we create them into a complete daily journal. I wish the audience could be reminded of some small blessings in their life through this audio piece.
