D+S: Project II Proposal

I am interested in showcasing the movement of the mechanical component of the project, but maintaining a discrepancy between the consistent movement of the gears and a stilted movement of the subject(final chain in the process). I personally have a knee injury from childhood that sometimes flares up, giving me a slight limp, so I thought that it would be interesting to have the exposed gears turning at a consistent rate yet somehow producing movement for a pair of limping legs. I don’t plan on having the legs be hyper-realistic in any way, sort of more geometric- representative. I have previous experience designing my own gears and using the CNC in order to produce them, which I think will be necessary since the gears will likely require more width to them than laser cut parts can offer. Other likely materials include wire to control/alter movement and probably laser cut plywood for the sculpture itself.
