Audio Reflection
I think the overall performance can be considered successful. Especially the color tracking stuff is much stable when we perform compared with the rehearsal on the weekend. And also I am glad to hear that the audience can perceive that it’s a story about wars, fighting, and disputation, which are the nightmares bothering human beings for millions of years. We try to add the narrative part into this audio performance to somehow try to build the cornerstone of the final project. I want to mention some points that are missing in the description part. The reason why we use the eastern beginning and ending backgrounds music, guitar in the middle part, and both cold and hot weapons is that we want to convey the message that it’s the issue that we fail to overcome during centuries. So I think if we want to make this strong, we need to make an extra effort in the narrative telling to strengthen it.
In response to the body movement part. I definitely agree that we should include that part. If we have an external web camera put at our height, this will free us from just sitting in front of our computer. And not manipulating on the computer is another great point, due to the time constraint, we don’t have the time to experiment with the OSC stuff mentioned in the class, I think if we have one more person, it’s completely possible to manipulate the sound on our phones while performing. Since we have already figured out the velocity, we could use it in a more creative way, like indicating the intensity of our body movements. I think for the different color tracking if we had more time, we will try it. But we are also afraid of mixing too many musical instruments will make the whole piece a little bit chaotic. But we will see the outcome if we experiment and tune with it. The most important improvement I think we can make is to use our body movement to bring more liveness to the show.
