Final Project stage 2
This week we have made some progress on our final piece of work.
With the help of Professor Andy, we have developed a wood-made framework to hold the dome, making it parallel to the angle of the chair.
Spending around 2 afternoons on the fabrication lab, we have almost completed the construction part. And this is far more difficult than we previously think about. All the length and angles need to be calculated carefully, otherwise, in the resembling stage, there will huge errors, required to be fixed.
One more step that remained to be done is to use black curtains to cover around it and make one side of it to be the entrance. In this way, hopefully, we can provide users with a better watching experience of the scenes projected on the dome.
The second part we have devoted ourselves to is that how to utilize the VFX system better to serve our visual patterns better. Based on our previous thought on the storyline, I have studied some tutorials and build our main character, Evelynn, in the shape of a ball.
After that, I play with some packages and find that among all of them, the most useful one for our project is the ‘curvy’. It allows me to draw a track and the movement will follow it at a pre-decided speed.
The storyboard is still in process, but the basic idea is to use color to represent different stages of Evelyn. It will turn from black to other kinds of colors and finally construct a beautiful picture, together with the involving music.
