Visual Metaphor Proposal: Jim and Siwei

III. Concept | Storyline
- Voice-over: A human-voice narrator but may have some distortions as an fx to mimick robotic sounds. It is instructing the rules of a museum.
“Welcome to the xxx Museum. In order for you and others to have a better visiting experience, please observe the following rules:
1. All displays in this museum are specimens. If you see or feel a display move, please move away as soon as possible and ask for help from the staff.
2. Please do not touch any of the displays. If you accidentally touch a display, wash your hands with alcohol sanitizer or ask for help from a nearby staff member.
3. Food and drinks are not allowed in this museum. Please do not use flash photography, as it may cause abnormal reactions to the displays.
4. If you feel dizzy or uncomfortable, please leave the visiting area immediately.
5. If you violate any of the above rules or have experienced irreversible hallucinations, please contact a staff member and enter the display area under their direction. ”
2. Storyline: (Science Fiction) A tourist entered a museum. He listened to strange noises and did not move away immediately, and also he touched the specimens. Breaking some relevant rules, he trapped in illusion. Finally, he became a display item himself.
3. Focus: The part when the tourist begin to have illusion
4. Style: abstract, science-fictional
IV. Execution plan
- equipment: Microphone (audio recording), DSLR filming camera (video recording), phone and stablizer
- Locations: museum (Shanghai Natural Museum), a room with white walls Time: daytime
- Challenges: editing the film to make clear of the illusionary effect; finding/composing music that best fits the theme; smoothly transforming scenes through juxtaposition Preparation: using some sound effects; recording multiple times; try different effects in Premiere.
- Collaboration: Siwei: storyboard and script; most of the filming; acting; some of the post-production Jim: some of the filming; acting; most of the post-production (including sound and music)
