Assignments
**All assignments will live on a final project page (go to template) and will be added to weekly as the semester progresses, so you can have one sharable hub for your entire project**
Due 9/14/23: Assignment #1
- Research at least 3 design inspirations for your final project
- What do the interfaces do well?
- What do they not do well?
- What are opportunities for improvement?
- As a group, create a 2-5 minute presentation on your research findings to share with the class next week during Design Crit
Due 9/21/23: Assignment #2
- Write a blog post of 2-3 final project ideas under the Weekly Updates section of your final project page
- Include which sensory elements are present
- What the user does
- What the interfaces does in response
- Include sketches
- Present slides of your final project ideas during Design Crit next week
Due 9/28/23: Assignment #3
- Write a blog post under the Weekly Updates, detailing what you learned from your peers during Design Crit
- Choose your final project idea, informed by feedback during Crit
- Include sketches and description for how you’ll incorporate feedback from Crit into your final project
Due 10/5/23: Assignment #4
- Write a blog post under the Weekly Updates that includes a 1-minute demo video of your rapid prototype
- Bring your group’s rapid prototype to class for Design Crit
Due 10/12/23: Assignment #5
- Write a blog post under the Weekly Updates that includes your research objectives and user testing script
- Conduct user feedback sessions with at least 5 participants
Due 10/19/23: Assignment #6
- Write a blog post under the Weekly Updates that describes the 3-5 key findings from the user feedback session
Due 10/26/23: Assignment #7
- Iterate on your rapid prototype, implementing the 3-5 key findings from your user feedback session
- Write a blog post under the Weekly Updates that includes a 1-minute demo video of your rapid prototype
- Describe how you implemented the 3-5 key findings
- Bring your prototype to class for Design Crit
Due 11/2/23: Assignment #8
- Buy/find materials and begin building final project with your group
- Describe materials used under Weekly Updates section of your group’s final project page
- Set up time in the Doc Lab for extra support with photo and video documentation

- Build your final project
- Describe this week’s achievements under Weekly Updates section of your group’s final project page
- Bring your current prototype to class next week for Design Crit
- Set up time in the Doc Lab for extra support with photo and video documentation
Due 11/16/23: Assignment #10
- Build your final project
- Describe this week’s achievements under Weekly Updates section of your group’s final project page
- Add the 5 W’s chart of your multisensory modality components for your group’s final project
- You will share these with the class next week during Design Crit
- Post under 5 W’s Chart section of your final project page
- If you haven’t yet, set up time in the Doc Lab for extra support with photo and video documentation

- Code
- Sources used or referenced in your project
Due 12/14/23: Assignment #13
- 5-10 min final presentation video
- Pre-recorded presentation
- You can design your own slides or use a template
- Includes what you built, what sensory modalities you chose and why, who was on the team, what your process was, and what you learned
- Videos must have captions and verbal description!
- Verbally describe what you’re doing and the visuals on the screen so that Blind viewers can access your work.
- Save time by uploading/hosting video on NYU Stream to add automatic captions so d/Deaf viewers can access your work.

- Update your group’s final project page to include:
- Final Presentation video
