Assignments

**All assignments will live on a final project page (go to template) and will be added to weekly as the semester progresses, so you can have one sharable hub for your entire project.

Due 10/27/22: Assignment #1

  1. As a group, create a 2-5 minute pre-recorded presentation on 1-2 design inspirations from your research and your chosen project idea the inspirations led to
    • Include which sensory elements are present, what the user does, and what the interfaces does in response
    • Post under Weekly Updates section of your final project page
  2. Write a group blog post on your Observation & Ideation process
    • Detail or sketch ideas you have for your final project and anything you learned from researching other artists’ interfaces
    • Post under Weekly Updates section of your final project page

Due 11/03/22: Assignment #2

  1. Write a group blog post that includes a 1-minute demo video of your rapid prototype
    • Post under Weekly Updates section of your final project page
  2. Bring your group’s rapid prototype to class

Due 11/10/22: Assignment #3

  1. Write a group blog post that includes your user testing script and lists 3-5 key findings from the user feedback session
    • Post under Weekly Updates section of your final project page
  2. Bring your group’s rapid prototype to class

Due 11/17/22: Assignment #4

  1. Buy/find materials and begin building final project with your group
    • Describe materials used under Weekly Updates section of your group’s final project page
    • Set up time in the Doc Lab for extra support with photo and video documentation!
  2. Add the 5 W’s chart of your multisensory modality components for your group’s final project
    • Post under 5 W’s Chart section of your final project page
  3. Begin adding milestones to Timeline section of your group’s final project page
    • Reminder: Final project is due in class on 12/1

Due 12/1/22: Assignment #5

  1. Final project due in class
  2. Update your group’s final project page to include:
    • Project Description
    • All milestones achieved under Timeline
    • System Diagram
    • Code
    • Sources used or referenced in your project

Due 12/8/22: Assignment #6

  1. 5-10 min final presentation video
    • Create a re-recorded presentation with your group that includes what you built, what sensory modalities you chose and why, who was on the team, what your process was, and what you learned
    • Videos must have captions and verbal description!
      • Verbally describe what you’re doing and the visuals on the screen so that Blind reviewers can access your work.
      • Save time by uploading/hosting video on NYU Stream to add automatic captions so deaf reviewers can access your work.
    • Post under Final Presentation section of your group’s final project page
  2. Update your group’s final project page to include:
    • Project Description
    • All milestones achieved under Timeline
    • System Diagram
    • Code
    • Sources used or referenced in your project
  3. Bring your group’s final project to class
