Dr. Magued Iskander, PE has assisted several owners, municipalities, law firms, and insurance companies in legal disputes related to construction claims, construction accidents, design defects, building failure, and construction defects.  Technical issues involved in litigation included settlement, drainage, excavation support, underpinning of foundations, piling, retaining structures, deep foundations, and structural failures.

Professor Iskander has over thirty years of experience in analysis, design, and construction of foundations including teaching, research, and consulting. He is experienced in the evaluation, rehabilitation, instrumentation, and field monitoring of distressed structures, retaining walls, and foundations. He has authored 4 books, edited 10 books, published 80+ journal articles and 70 conference papers, and made over 100 professional presentations dealing with foundations, urban geotechnology, geotechnical modeling, codes and specifications, durability of foundations, soil mechanics, pedagogy, and geotechnical instrumentation.

Representative cases include:

• Testified on behalf of 13 homeowners whose homes were destroyed due to the reduction in bearing capacity of the supporting soils caused by rising of the groundwater table due to a water main break. Plaintiffs awarded $5,800,000 plus interest.
• Assisted municipality in defending a $360M claim of illegal dumping on private landfill. Claim settled for less than $3M.
• Represented corporate investors against an $11M claim of latent foundation defects. Claim settled for $700K.
