Professor Mohammad Ali Kadivar’s presentation will delve into the evolution of contentious mobilization in Iran over the past four decades, with a particular emphasis on protest episodes since 2017. The talk will explore how mobilization dynamics have intersected with the changing political landscape in Iran. Additionally, the presentation will examine the factors contributing to the emergence of the significant waves of anti-regime protests in 2018, 2019, and 2022. Finally, Dr. Kadivar will draw comparisons between the protest movements in Iran and the revolutionary protests in Egypt and Tunisia in 2010-2011.
