This is a little odd, but I’m able to use the grass radical on top to quite readily associate “flowers” with “SPEND” because of a famous historical episode that is known by the name of “Tulip Mania.” Essentially, in the first half of the seventeenth century in the Netherlands, tulips became such a valued commodity that they were being sold “for more than 10 times the annual income of a skilled artisan” (from the Wikipedia article on the subject).
to me it looks like a shop vendor standing under a roof, pointing toward the table goods that they are selling. I always want to ‘spend’ my money at such places.
Money is green like the grass. This character reminds me of the person that SPENT 7 green notes (because the part on the lower right reminds of the number 7 in Chinese)
