Hand Sewing Basics
A simple method for threading a needle. You can also try pushing the end of the thread through the eye of the needle directly, but if your thread is frayed, it may be difficult.
Straight stitch, also known as a running stitch. A great stitch for beginners. Once you master it, try a “back stitch,” which will be stronger.
Overcast stitch and blanket stitch. These are very quick and useful for joining two edges together. If you sew with the fabric inside out, the seam will be less visible when you turn it out.
A great overview of many types of hand stitches, including the “back stitch,” mentioned above.
