Instructors’ Guide

Classroom Equipment

All built-in classroom equipment is managed and serviced by Campus Media.

Equipment

Use the WebCheckout to request equipment for a class or event (ex: Arduino kits for a class or a projector for an installation) All requests must be submitted 2 business days in advance of your requested pick-up time (weekends are not business days). All requests are subject to equipment availability.

Use the Purchasing Request Form to request a purchase (ex: new equipment or supplies).

Insurance

Students will need to provide proof of insurance to be able to borrow equipment. If your course requires equipment to be able to perform within the class, ensure your students have property insurance, preferably College Student Insurance.

Design Lab

Our labs are not teaching spaces and can not be reserved for classes. You can borrow equipment, via the equipment request form, to be used in your classroom. Class visits from technical assistants will be made available as soon as staff is hired and trained.

Schedule

The hours of operation are determined by the student staff’s schedules and will be posted soon. You can view the schedule here.

Training

Before accessing the lab, students must complete the online training here and attend an in-person training. Students can begin the training process online immediately and access the materials in room 340, even when the lab is closed.

Additional training is necessary for more advanced machines such as the laser cutter. Initial safety training must be completed prior to scheduling specialty training.

Lending

Supplies such as Arduino Uno kits and soldering kits are available to borrow. If you need to reserve any supplies for a class, please use this form to let us know at least 1 day before the class time. Individuals can either request a kit ahead of time or just walk in. Other tools can be borrowed from the Design Lab and used on the 3rd floor but you will be asked to leave your ID with one of the student workers.

Class Visits

Please let me know if you would like to have one of the Design Lab student staff members visit your class to introduce the lab.

Craft Supplies

Craft supplies are freely available on the white shelf in room 340. This shelf is intended for general student use; if you anticipate needing a high volume of supplies or something specific that we don’t currently have, please contact request materials through the purchasing form in advance of your lesson to coordinate the materials.

Print Service

Schedule

The hours of operation are determined by the student worker’s schedule and will be posted next week.

Training

Before submitting jobs to print, students must complete the online training.

All printing is done by student staff and all requests must be submitted via the print request form.

Print jobs will be completed in the order they are submitted. No exceptions will be made for last-minute assignments so please ask students to plan accordingly.

**Please let us know as soon as possible the due dates of any print-heavy assignments so we can plan accordingly.**
