IDM Tech Team Website
The IDM Labs site has information on training and use of the following spaces and equipment.
The 3rd floor of 370 Jay is our primary academic space. You should have swipe access to the floor, if you have issues, please contact Eric Maiello with your N Number for assistance.
No eating is allowed in the public spaces on the 3rd floor. You may use the kitchen area to eat.
Faculty printing for class use (syllabi, flyers, readings, etc.)
A printer and copier is available for faculty only use in room 329B. All printing is accessed through the Pharos Sentry Print Services. Please refer to this guide for more information.
Room 325 – Open Studio
Shared spaces for students to work. This space has iMacs and PCs with pre-installed software for student use. It is a flexible space that often hosts speakers, workshops, and other one off events.
Room 340 – Design Lab
Workspace with 3d printers, electronics, and other tools. This is not a teaching space and can not be reserved for classes. You can borrow equipment via Web Checkout to be used in your classroom. Class visits from technical assistants will be made available as soon as staff is hired and trained.
Design Lab Schedule
The hours of operation are determined by the student staff’s schedules and will be posted soon. You can view the schedule here.
Design Lab Training
Before accessing the lab, visitors (students and faculty) must complete online training. Additional in-person training is required for specialty machines such as the laser cutter and resin printer.
Class Visits to the Lab
Please email idmtech@nyu.edu if you would like to have one of the Lab student staff members visit your class to introduce the lab or to arrange a class visit.
Craft Supplies
The craft supplies in the Design Lab are free to use in the lab. If faculty need supplies in the classroom they should coordinate with Samantha Jackson at sj3348@nyu.edu
Room 351 – Print Service
A large format printer – students may submit files to have printed by IDM Technical Assistants, once they have completed the online training and quiz.
Printing Protocols
All student printing for classes is done by student staff. All requests must be submitted via the print request form.
Print jobs will be completed in the order they are submitted. No exceptions will be made for last-minute assignments so please ask students to plan accordingly.
**Please let us know as soon as possible the due dates of any print-heavy assignments so we can plan accordingly.**
Print Service Schedule

Room 329A is our shared mailroom. You are welcome to have materials shipped to IDM on your behalf. Any received mail will be stored in this room. The mailing address is: YOUR NAME, NYU IDM, 370 Jay Street, 3rd Floor, Brooklyn, NY 11201
