Video group assignment – part1
Meeting with the group, thinking how we wanted to go about this assignment, I was pleasantly reminded of how different we are and how each of us bring a different skill set to the table. saying that we all expressed a desire to experience and try all aspects of the process.
We decided to go with Option A: A 2-4 minute infomercial video for an invented object or service. The style is to be a slightly dark- humorous feel and we wanted it to loop back at the end to add a complexity and sense of surprise.
We wrote (well to be fair August took lead on writing) a rather detailed break down of the different scenes.
we storyboarded it out, each taking responsibility for different scenes. I must say it feels odd to draw a storyboard when details of the script are not finalized. I feel another board in my future.
An infomercial spokesman takes us on a journey to find love in the modern world. He begins by introducing us to an enchanting necklace sure to lead buyers to the person of their dreams. During the next infomercial, he presents an automated pheromone spritzer for your home, but something seems a little off about him — his heart’s not in it, you could say. The third infomercial starts and he begins to show off a sexy wig, but he’s clearly having some sort of breakdown. The producer tries to get him to continue filming, but the spokesman’s a wreck. Finally, he rips off the mic and runs off the sound stage. The producer and camera crew scramble to follow him as he frantically searches the manic streets for something. Eventually, he finds his ex-lover and pours his heart out, confessing his love for her and pleads for her to take him back. She apologizes, and turns to her new lover — the brand’s new spokesman, touting all the previous three products and confidently addressing the camera to introduce the fourth.
