“WANDERING THROUGH STILLNESS”
by Deepa Somasekhara Pillai
What happens when life takes the protagonist (Deepa) to a juncture where she has to choose between conforming to societal norms and tending to self-love.
Deepa S Pillai is an actor, dancer, choreographer, and Hatha Yoga practitioner based out of Dallas, Texas. She completed her Masters in Performance Studies at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts in 2020 and currently teaches Indian Classical Dance and Yoga online. A gold medalist in Bharatanatyam from REVA University, she is also an active performer in the fraternity.
Her spiritual interest is in decoding the magical bond between storytelling and Life, investigating how the former’s modalities become root to the latter’s existence. Art is one of the exciting, timeless dimensions by which stories are shared through the ages. Defined by rich variations that axiomatically coexistent as art and bodies, are ephemeral threads of Life with which humanity has woven its fabric of culture, belief, and practice in the past, today, and for all the days to come.
Deepa is presently working on her Optional Practical Training and aspires to create stories from her Life’s experiences as they emerge into two-minute films. This is precisely why Cell Phone Cinema has become one of the most valued tools for my artistic Life: it is The Making of Story Telling, if I may say 😊!
