Travel information

There is a good summary of how to get to Amherst on the LSA Institute website: https://blogs.umass.edu/lingstitute2023/about-the-lingstitute/travel-to-amherst/

Accommodation

The following websites provide information that should be useful for finding local accommodation:

  • https://offcampushousing.umass.edu/housing
  • https://www.amherst.edu/visiting/lodging/bb
  • https://www.amherst.edu/visiting/lodging

Some of the surrounding suburbs are accessible by bus from UMass Amherst. These are Sunderland (accessible on the PVTA 31 bus line – about 20 minutes), and Northampton (accessible on the PVTA B43 bus – about 45 minutes). Many of the UMass Linguistics faculty and graduate students live in Northampton.
