Read & Reflect: Haunted Media

Speaking of the word “wireless”, what comes first to us is some terms like “WiFi”, “5G”, “Bluetooth”, and “wireless” charge. However, when reading The Voice from the Void, it showed me how strange and new the word “wireless” sounds to them. Indeed, this new technology was far beyond that generation’s understanding. However, in the fast-changing world, all new technologies seem to have the same effect.

In the field of electromagnetism, the new development and application of combined technology of communication always bring infinite surprises to me. One of which, HUAWEI Share is one technology that surprised me most. Though different from the people in the 19th century, we know that information could be transited via electromagnetic waves, it is hard for me to imagine such a wireless system that enables its devices to communicate with each other so conveniently. HUAWEI Share makes it possible for a HUAWEI phone to send a file to a computer via a single touch, while a computer could also share data such as the clipboard or the screenshot synchronously with the phone. When first trying out this technology, I got really confused about the science behind it. Just like the people who felt radio like a ghost. But after some research, I learned that the touch between PC and phone itself doesn’t transmit any file. It just sends and receives some device information to recognize each other. Then a WLAN connection is established for the communication between files. For me, HUAWEI Share really sounded like a “hunted media”, but once figured out its theory behind, nothing is strange at all.
