Project A Proposal

When I was taking a class on the movements of the sine and cosine functions, I thought their motions resembled the flight of birds. So, while searching about the slow motion of birds on YouTube, I found a creature called “인면조”, which means a human-faced bird. Inmyeonjo is an imagined creature from Eastern mythology with a human face and a bird’s body. At first, I felt repulsed by this strange life form, but as I continued watching, I found it intriguing, and I thought about creating a similar creature made of combining various animals myself.

I realized that I could use the concepts of motion I learned in class to simulate the flapping of bird wings and the movement of a snake’s tail. Therefore, I decided to create a hybrid creature combining the characteristics of a bird and a snake. The repetitive flapping of wings could be implemented using the sine and map function, and the movement of the tail could be controlled by adjusting the background statement.

To make it more interactive, I wanted the creature to change its appearance when encountering other organisms. I classified these changes into two categories: when it finds food and when it encounters a predator. Inspired by this mini-game I saw, where a whale grows larger by eating smaller prey and dies when it eats larger prey, I decided to implement a similar interaction. Depending on its size, the creature will be able to eat different types of food, and eating will cause it to grow in size. I believe this can be achieved using random functions and if-conditionals.

In addition, I was inspired by a video of a chameleon changing its body color to match its surroundings. Since I imagine this creature as an amphibian with a snake’s tail, I will incorporate the chameleon’s characteristic of changing color to blend with its environment when its predator appears. This aspect can also be implemented using if-conditionals.
