We are currently seeking to fill two Education Instructor positions, one that would have a K-12 Education focus, and the other that would have a Community Education focus. While these will be similar roles within the Education & Community team, each role will have a handful of tasks that are specialized to their area of focus.

The Education Instructors further the educational and community engagement missions of the Museum by assisting with the development and implementation of all the Rock Hall’s educational offerings and programming. Working with the Director of Education and Community Engagement and the Education Programs Supervisor, they lead the departments onsite education programs and offsite outreach efforts. They are responsible for contributing to engaging educational experiences for visiting students, teachers, and fans.  They exemplify the Rock Hall’s Fans First philosophy, have a deep knowledge of rock and roll history, are comfortable speaking in front of crowds, and deliver high-quality experiences to fans from around the world. 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

Education & Community Engagement Programming – Both Roles

  • Facilitates in-museum programs for students such as Rock Hall EDU, Toddler Rock, and community events, ensuring all efforts align to current educational and learning standards and methods.
  • Contribute to the onsite teacher and student experience, including program registration, communications systems, and distribution of pre- and post-visit materials.
  • Support the creation and distribution of Rock Hall EDU Onsite and Online materials related to Education Department activities.
  • Works with the Education team to deliver the ongoing activities of the Howley Learning Center to increase our depth and reach of community and educational engagement.
  • Collaborates with education & fan engagement teams to lead Fan Engagement activations.
  • Supports the community engagement initiatives by working with department Director and Supervisor to reach audiences and ensure efforts align with long term strategic and educational goals.
  • Serves as a key representative of the Rock Hall’s Education and Community team at offsite events, conferences, presentations, and media outlets.

  • Assists in creating and facilitating programming for visiting partner institutions and summer camps. Support professional development opportunities for teachers and educators, both virtually and in-person, including the Summer Teacher Summit. 

JOB REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

Education Level

  • Ability to read and demonstrate basic oral, written, mathematical and manual skills. Ability to communicate in standard English.
  • Bachelor’s degree in education, music, child development, museum administration or related field required.
  • Music performance experience preferred.

Working conditions

  • Environmental Parameters: Ability to work indoors and outdoors, in all types of weather conditions. Ability to work in crowds of people. Ability to work with loud house music.

Physical Demands: 

o   Strength: Ability to lift/move items weighing up to 30 lbs. (approximately)

o   Type: Express or exchange ideas by means of spoken word and to perceive nature of sounds. Ability to hear accurately to monitor radios and interact with the public. Ability to perform tasks concurrently. Work involves walking or standing most of the time but may involve sitting for brief periods of time. 

Work schedule:

o   Work hours are primarily Monday through Friday 8:30 am to 5:30 pm. Ability to work up to 40 hours per week; any shift as assigned, including evenings, weekends and holidays as business needs demand.

Benefits and Compensation
The annual salary range for this position is $41,600 – $47,840, commensurate with experience, education, and certifications.
