About the Department:
The Modern and Contemporary Art department is devoted to the study, acquisition and exhibition of art from 1890 to the present. An era marked by seismic cultural, social and political shifts across the globe, artistic responses to these changes have shaped multiple modernities and diverse contemporary practices. The department is committed to foregrounding the interconnected and richly variegated narratives and experiences that inform the art of this period from around the world.

GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
As the Project Manager, you will support the Leonard A Lauder Curator of Modern art in launching a new research project for dada and surrealism. You will contribute to the initiation, planning, development, and execution of the program. You will also collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to develop the research platform, organize research databases, and provide administrative support for research, documentation, and programing.

This is a position with an established end-date or time frame. Time frames will begin upon hire: 5 years

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITES & DUTIES

  • Especially in this initial period, assist in the firm grounding of organizational processes and calendar, including support for internal steering group, museum participants, and rotating external collaborators;
  • Support and assist in the implementation and management of annual program of research and events (this might include screenings, workshops, lectures, interviews);
  • Support archival and library research requests in collaboration with Curator.
  • Support work on website and database construction, in partnership with Digital and Technology.
  • Facilitate various meetings and shared work with Met departments, including Design, Digital, Education, Editorial, Registrar, External Affairs, and Development;
  • Ensure the archival recording of all programming, captioning, and rights needed to share content;
  • Assist in publication of annual program on website;
  • Assist in drafting annual reports for supporters as well as all external communications;
  • Maintain image library; prepare PPT materials for lectures in support of projects;
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • BA in Art History, or Arts Administration required, MA preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience working in a program administration function in a museum
  • Website production experience a plus.
  • Fluency in English, with additional reading skills in French/German preferred.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, record-keeping and writing skills;
  • Proven ability to be an efficient, detail-oriented multitasker, who can work both independently as well as part of a team;
  • Demonstrated success in working under pressure to meet deadlines;
  • Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Microsoft Teams, Adobe Acrobat Pro, Adobe Photoshop, and fluency with The Museum System (TMS), and bibliographic software (e.g., Zotero) preferred.

COMPENSATION RANGE:

  • Pay Range: $80,000.00 – $85,000.00 / Annually
  • The advertised pay scale reflects the good faith minimum and maximum salary range for this role. The advertised pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage for any specific employee. The specific compensation offered to a candidate may be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, education, special licensing or qualifications, and other factors.

Location Requirements
At time of employment, employees are expected to be located within commuting distance of the Museum. “Commuting distance” means that they are located in one of following states: New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, or Pennsylvania (the “Tri-state and PA” areas), and be able to commute to and from the Museum in a single day.
