Description
The New-York Historical Society seeks a qualified intern to assist with research and planning relating to an upcoming exhibition about Black LGBTQ life during the Harlem Renaissance. Research will focus on using primary and secondary sources and preparing reports on the biographies of core Harlem Renaissance figures. The intern should have a background in African American and LGBTQ History. The intern in this position will: gain experience in the research phase of exhibition planning, gain proficiency with a variety of document types and sources, and learn to navigate TMS (The Museum System collections database).The intern will work closely with curator Allison Robinson, Ph.D., Associate Curator of Exhibitions.
The Spring 2025 Internship will run from February 10-April 18, 2025. This part-time 120-hour internship is paid at an hourly rate of $16.
Please be advised that the New-York Historical Society has adopted a mandatory vaccine policy. Interns must provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination (inclusive of booster shots) ahead of the start of the internship and will be required to follow health and safety measures put into place by New-York Historical while on-site.
Qualifications
This internship requires research and writing experience.
