About the Position
The Science History Institute is recruiting for a part-time (20 hours per week), limited duration (one year) Collections Specialist. The Collections Specialist will assist the Head of Collections Management and Registration to organize collection information related to artifacts and objects in our off-site storage facility. The Collections Specialist will also assist in locating, scanning, and data parsing from object and donor files; researching and compiling a list of similar collecting institutes; and creating a detailed objects spreadsheet.

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • Minimum of one year of collections experience in a museum or gallery
  • Bachelor’s degree in museum studies, history, or similar curriculum
  • Knowledge of collections management databases and data entry standards; experience using PastPerfect is a plus
  • Proficiency of museum collections best practices and methods
  • Object handling experience is a plus
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to successfully manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining strong attention to detail
