The Jackie Robinson Museum chronicles Jackie Robinson’s trailblazing accomplishments against the backdrop of United States history, from his birth in 1919 to the present and serves as a vehicle to perpetuate Robinson’s legacy, inspiring visitors to continue working toward “first class citizenship” for all. Internship Description
The Jackie Robinson Museum Education Department intern will join a small team of full-time and part-time staff responsible for developing and implementing school and public programming at the Jackie Robinson Museum.

Key programming areas include school field trips delivered Tuesday through Friday;
educator professional development offerings; youth & intergenerational public programs; and adult public programs.

Interns will receive training on Jackie Robinson’s trailblazing accomplishments against the backdrop of United States history, from his birth in 1919 to the present, as well as the Museum’s approach to sharing the complexity of Robinson’s life and legacy with visitors of all ages. The intern will also be trained in the content and pedagogy of the Museum’s signature field trip offerings, with the expectation that the intern will step in as co-educator alongside Museum staff serving K-12 classes during the spring.

In addition to participating in content training and field trip delivery, the intern will have the opportunity to meet with Jackie Robinson Foundation staff members outside the Museum Education department to learn more about career pathways represented at nonprofit institutions. The internship will also have an assigned project to complete throughout the duration of the internship.

The Spring 2025 internship would begin in late January 2025 and continue for 12 weeks, through the week of April 14, 2025.

Internship Eligibility
• Undergraduate or graduate student currently enrolled in an academic program, or recent graduate (within one year)
• Academic or professional background in sports and society, education, museum education, and/or US history with a focus on African American history preferred, but not required
• The following skills or specialties would a plus, though are not required:
o bilingual with fluency in Spanish
o training or background in special education and/or accessibility best practices• Must be eligible to work in the United States

Hours & Pay
• The intern would work 12-15 hours/week, which must include at least two weekdays Tuesday through Friday. Some weekend or evening hours may be required.
• The intern would be paid $20/hour
