Role Description
We are presently looking to expand our team with a highly motivated and experienced Director of Institutional Giving. Your primary responsibility as the Director of Institutional Giving is to oversee a portfolio of foundation, governmental, and corporate contributors in order to serve as a front-line fundraiser for AHC’s core mission programs, general support, projects, and other capital requirements.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Build and execute the institutional giving strategy for AHC to increase support for annual programs, operating support, projects, and capital needs.
- Responsible for managing a portfolio of institutional donors to research, cultivate, request, and steward potential and current institutional donors – foundation, government, corporate
- Collaborate with the Development team to implement the Institutional giving strategy
- Cultivate current and build new relationships with institutional donors
- Create opportunities to engage new corporate support and in-kind opportunities
- Meet and exceed annual budgeted goals
- Create proposals and presentations for donor meetings and solicitations
- Research new Institutional donors using Foundation Center and other Wealth Screen tools
- Manage and maintain grant and report calendar
- Write and submit grant applications
- Collaborate with other internal departments to manage and submit all grant reports
- Ensure all recognition for institutional donors (internal and external) is completed and monitored accordingly
- Create and manage institutional donor engagement opportunities, including donor visits, cultivation events, and other functions.
- Engage in professional development opportunities with other professionals in the institutional giving field and industry as needed.
Other
- Participate as a staff volunteer in Development and select institutional events.
- Perform other related duties and responsibilities as required and assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree required
- Minimum of 5 years of related institutional fundraising experience
- Demonstrated success in securing and increasing institutional support, including foundation, government, and corporate support.
- Experience managing a portfolio of donors
- Experience researching new institutional donors
- Experience managing a department budget
- Excellent computer skills and strong knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Use or knowledge of CRM software, such as Tessitura, Salesforce, Raiser’s Edge
- Outstanding verbal, written, and presentation skills
- Ability to synthesize and communicate financial information and data, including working with confidential information.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and with trustees, major donors, senior leadership, and colleagues.
- Ability to set and meet deadlines with minimal supervision, prioritizing duties effectively and efficiently.
- Strong project management ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities, including good follow-through
- Detail-oriented, meets deadlines, and is timely
- Excellent organizational skills
- Ability to organize, help with, and attend donor events and meetings, including evening events
