Job Title: Grant and Database Manager 

Job Status: Part-time, 12 hours a week

Location: Remote 

Salary: $35/hr


Literature to Life (LTL) is a performance-based literacy program that presents professionally staged verbatim adaptations of American literary classics. Founded as the educational program of the American Place Theatre more than three decades ago, LTL carries forward the legacy of founder Wynn Handman, who championed American writers of diverse backgrounds as “voices worth hearing,” a pioneering notion in the 1960’s.  

Title: Grants and Database Manager (Part-Time: ~12 hours/week)

Reports to: Executive Director

This part-time position reports to the Executive Director and will play an integral role in keeping the organization’s development efforts organized and on-schedule. Successful candidates will have a keen attention to detail, strong interpersonal skills, and an interest in Literature to Life’s mission.

Key responsibilities:

  • Maintain the grant calendar to track grant opportunities, deadlines, and activities. 
  • Write government, foundation, and corporate grant proposals and reports (in collaboration with and oversight from the Executive Director).  
  • Assist the Executive Director and Marketing Manager in planning and executing annual appeals, Giving Tuesday, etc. 
  • Maintain a CRM database (Keela) to track donor information, payments, pledges, etc. 
  • Update and send donation acknowledgments and correspondence (if needed). 
  • Collaborate with the Executive Director on development updates for Board and staff meetings. 
  • Assist with any fundraising events, such as the Annual Gala.
  • Attend weekly staff meetings and/or one-on-one check-ins. 

Schedule: Flexible – Approximately 12 hours/week

Compensation: $35/hour 

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Minimum of 2-3 years working in a development/fundraising department.
  • Familiarity with the New York State/City funding landscape is a plus. 
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.
  • Comfortable working in the Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Forms, etc.) and in donor database systems.
  • Excellent writing and proofreading skills. 
  • Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and effective time management. 
  • A sense of humor is a plus!
