SUMMARY OF POSITION
The Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation is seeking an Associate in the Individual Giving Department. Reporting to the Assistant Director, Individual Giving, the Associate will support the operations, fundraising and donor relations associated with the Museum’s Curators Circle, Photography Council, Asian Art Circle, in addition to supporting important Individual Gifts fundraising and the annual travel program. This is an excellent opportunity to learn and grow for anyone seeking a career in Individual Giving and the broader development field.
 
SKILL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • 2-3 years of Development experience and/or experience in a cultural institution environment is required. 
  • Competent in the planning and implementation of multiple concurrent projects and events. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.   
  • Experience with volunteer leadership and committees. 
  • Ability to interact with a wide variety of people within and outside the museum.  Professionally represent the institution and its programs across a wide range of circumstances. 
  • The ideal candidate is personable, highly organized, detail-oriented, and works collaboratively. 
  • Proficiency in computer applications including Microsoft Suite: One Drive, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Salesforce. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Work collaboratively with members of the Individual Giving team to achieve and exceed annual fundraising goals, provide support on various ad hoc projects across the Individual Giving department, and support the advancement of the museum’s diversity, equity, access, and inclusion and sustainability goals. 
  • Support the operations related to the Curators Circle, Asian Art Circle, and Photography Council, in addition to support Individual Gifts fundraising.  
  • Oversee the collection and processing of contributions; data management, report generation and stewardship of members, working with the Advancement’s Operations Associate Manager to maintain and ensure accuracy of donor records and correlating reports in Salesforce.
  • Coordinate and execute Photography Council, Asian Art Circle, and Curator’s Circle events, tours, and meetings (briefing forms, catering, rentals, A/V, registration, event reminders, processing expenses, and budget tracking), with assistance as needed on other Individual Gifts and Affinity Group programs and tasks. 
  • Support logistics of annual donor travel programs.
  • In collaboration with the Assistant to the Chief Advancement Officer, provide support in managing organizational communication, facilitating workflow, scheduling, and addressing the needs of the Director’s Office and other key leadership roles throughout the organization.
  • Assist with providing excellent customer service and hospitality to current and prospective members via phone, email, in addition to staffing events to develop and deepen relationships with donors.
  • Perform budget and expense tracking, donor research, database maintenance, management of prospect lists, meeting agendas, and other administrative support of the Individual Giving Department.  
  • Execute solicitation letters and proposal materials for Individual Gifts’ fundraising requests, in addition to tracking Individual Gift proposals and ensuring the accuracy of proposal records. 
  • Participate and support needs of Prospect Review meetings and track a small portfolio of donors, with a focus in developing strategies for moves management and increased giving for each donor.  
  • Assist the Assistant Director and Senior Manager, and the Individual Giving team at large with additional stewardship, program management, and other ad hoc projects as requested. 

WORK DEMANDS & ENVIRONMENT:

  • Ability to travel within the metropolitan area as required to perform the above duties at any of the Guggenheim’s owned or leased properties upon request.
  • Occasionally work may be conducted outdoors, exposure to varied weather conditions.
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays on occasion.
  • Ability to lift at least 25 lbs.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree with a strong interest in arts and culture.

WORK SCHEDULE: 40 Hours per Week, Schedule TBD

POSITION TYPE:  Full-time, Non-Exempt. This position is covered by a Collective Bargaining Agreement with Local 2110 UAW. 

SALARY RANGE:  $53,560 annually
