Reports to: Executive Director

Status: Part Time, Salaried

Schedule: 30 hours per week (some weekends)

Starting Salary: $32,000 – $36,000

The Program Director will manage planning, marketing, and implementation of Woodstock Byrdcliffe Guild’s educational and public programs offered throughout the year which includes concerts, performances, classes, workshops, lectures, tours, excursions, special events, and event space rentals.

Meet with educators, artists, performers, presenters; review, present, and respond to incoming proposals; serve as staff liaison for Programs Committee; manage committee selection process of program proposals; prepare annual schedule of events for approval by the Executive Director and Board of Directors.

Execute agreements, artist contracts, insurance documentation; oversee production of approved programs including registration and attendance lists; schedule and manage contracted personnel; marketing plan and design orders; introduction of presenters; coordinate hospitality and volunteers; collaborate with Operations Manager on event space rentals; collaborate with department directors on related events; cultivation of program sponsors.

Write and distribute press releases, mass emails, and website content for approved programs; gather and edit programmatic text for public distribution; website updates; place and approve orders with graphic designer for program-related printed materials and advertisements; produce weekly social media posts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Works with Executive Director on programmatic planning; concept, development, implementation, and post-program analysis
  • Team planning with department chairs to achieve overall institutional growth
  • Develop annual schedule of events (classes, workshops, concerts, performances, tours, forums, open studios) and as well as program engagement for artists-in-residence
  • Coordination and oversight of all programming components and day-of-event logistics
  • Department oversight to achieve budgeted goals; manage registration, payments, and other financial and administrative needs
  • Recruitment, training, and supervision of educators, presenters, artists, and volunteers
  • Marketing strategies – announcements, publications, promotions, social media, media kits, news columns, website updates – and presenter of events

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent number years’ experience, Master’s preferred
  • A minimum of five years’ experience in arts programming, preferably in a nonprofit environment  
  • Excellent research, writing, and editorial skills
  • Ability to work with a team and independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Public speaking (moderating panel discussions, introducing artists and presenters)
  • Attention to detail, ability to prioritize, problem solve, and multitask
  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office and Google Suite; Raiser’s Edge a plus
  • Technologically savvy; ability to lift 30 pounds and climb ladders
